Ian Brisbin is a Partner at Mackesy Smye LLP. Mr. Brisbin carries on a broadly based civil litigation practice with a strong emphasis on personal injury law. Mr. Brisbin has developed his own practice and represents many clients in virtually all areas of personal injury law including car accidents, accidents on property and disability claims. Mr. Brisbin maintains a particular interest in the law as it relates to cyclists and accidents suffered by cyclists. He has appeared as counsel before all levels of Ontario Courts and has extensive experience advocating before various administrative tribunals.

In addition to his personal injury practice, Mr. Brisbin also has a focus in employment law cases, including claims arising from terminations from employment. He represents both employers and employees in employment law disputes.

Mr. Brisbin has been an active member of The Hamilton Law Association, serving as a member and chair of various committees. He is also very active within the community and currently serves as the Past Chair of The Board of Directors of the Royal Botanical Gardens, Chair of the Official Board of Melrose United Church, is a City of Hamilton appointee to the Board of Governors of the Hamilton Future Fund, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Share the Road Cycling Coalition. Mr. Brisbin is also a current member of The Advocates Society and The Ontario Trial Lawyers’ Association.

Mr. Brisbin grew up in Burlington and received his B.A degree from Queen’s University in 1996 and his LLB from Queen’s University in 2000. He was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2002.
